Scotlands People
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
This site replaces Scots Origins. It is user friendly and fast to access. The site is run by Scotland Online on behalf of The General Register Office for Scotland. A pay-per-view website, it includes indexes, digital images of the statutory register of Births from 1855-1901 and Deaths from 1855 to 1901 for Scotland.

A fast and functional site giving searchable access to almost 50 million records
The site now includes 1891 and 1901 Scottish censuses and indexes to the statutory registers of marriages from 1855 to 1926. The 1881 census and Old Parish Registers for baptisms and marraiges are also on the database.
Free Name Search is inevitably where most people will begin. You can only enter surnames but it will give you an idea of how many records for that name appear in each of the databases.
You can search from nearly 50 million records. Extracts cost £10 per record and it costs £6 to search the Old Parish Register, Statutory Register and Census Indexes in the database. This gives you 30 'page credits' and allows access for a period of 90 consecutive days. Viewing images costs 5 credits per image.
